Gallery Seven is delighted to announce that it will be teaming up with anti-poverty youth charity Ctrl.Alt.Shift. to put on the show Dear Diary from May 11. The event supports the work Ctrl.Alt.Shift. are doing with young people in Kenya.

The show will consist of some of the best examples of journal writing you're ever likely to come across. It's a wide spectrum ranging from the intellectual musings of Anais Nin to the angst of Kurt Cobain to a rare collection of the diaries of ordinary people. For those that can't face the idea of reading, the show will also have an audio-visual flavour complete with comfortable seating to heighten the pleasure.

We will also be selling limited edition diaries with a cover design by Alexa Chung and content comprised of the epiphanies of manys a diary keeper.

It'll be a real departure for us but we're excited by the prospect. We hope you are too.

The show will open to the public from May 11 and run until 23rd May.

Hanna Melin's Private View

Another successful night played out within the walls of Gallery Seven.

Thanks to all those who came down and enjoyed the show with us. We're sure you'll agree it was worth the trip.

For those who weren't in attendance, the show will run until early December. Make sure you go and check it out.

Hanna Melin: Butlins

Gallery Seven is rolling out the red carpet for one of London illustration's most recognisable names as we welcome the brilliant Hanna Melin and her solo show Butlins.

As the title suggests, we're all going on a little holiday. If you've been to Butlins, you'll be expecting something: a load of old rubbish. Well, expect none of that here. Hanna will be looking at the holiday camp through the ages, at their events, their marketing and their patrons and capturing a few holiday scenes in her own inimitable way.

As usual, Hanna will be injecting her own unique twist of humour into the work and as ever the work is original and exclusive to Gallery Seven.

The show opens to the public on October 16th and will run until the end of November.

Jim Stoten Show Extended

Jim Stoten: Menace to Society

If you were among the lucky ones, you'll know what we mean.

The private view for S. O. A. P. gave rise to what was probably the busiest room in the northern hemisphere since records began and a street that was teeming with fans of Jim's work. Someone should, and probably did, call the council on this young man.

Thanks to all those who came down and made it the night it was.

For those who missed out, go and see what the fuss is about for yourself. The show runs until Sept 20.

S.O.A.P.

Jim Stoten is bringing his technical genius to Gallery Seven with a new show entitled Studies of Another Place or S.O.A.P. for short.

The new work is about looking at the world through his eyes. It's a personal exhibition, both reflexive and escapist in equal measures, and it investigates his role as artist, his place in the illustrated world he wants to create and how the two inform and guide each other.

It's a bit of a break from the norm for Jim. If you've seen his work before you'll be expecting complex, highly-detailed, multi-angle illustrated fun fests. Ok, expect some of the same. But Jim has embraced the spirit of Gallery Seven and is pushing his own boundaries by trying his hand at collage. We like the results. We think you will too.

The show opens to the public on Friday August 21st.

Maxwell Paternoster's The 1974 Yearbook of Science and the Future is well and truly open to the public.

Thanks to all those who came to see us at the private view. Hopefully you had as much fun as we did.

New Show Opens June 19

Rejoice.

The hugely talented Maxwell Paternoster has agreed to create a show just for us and it's going to be something really quite good. The title? The 1974 Yearbook of Science and the Future: Chapter 6 - Waste [draft].

The title might be a bit of a mouthful, but it's worth the effort I'm sure you'll agree. The show takes its inspiration from a book of a very similar name and more importantly from our relationship with technology down the years.

Maxwell looks back at what we were thinking when we were looking forward, our apsirations and our fears, and asks two simple questions: how close did we come to our ideal and who picked up the bill? He'll be looking at the byproducts of our efforts, the waste and the wires, and taking things from there.

If you're familiar with Maxwell's work you'll know what to expect. If not, expect to lose hours of your life in the complex and hugely detailed illustrations.

The show is open to the public from June 19.

Good news.

We are delighted to announce that the follow-up to the hugely popular I Married a Toyboy Convict will be created by Hanna Melin.

The private show will be on Thursday 21st May. It will be open to the public from the following day.

The Big Night

So. We're finally open and pleased to say our first show has got off to a good start.

The turn out was excellent. Thanks to all those who came down and enjoyed to the show with us.

It got the thumbs up all round too. We always knew the work would go down well, but we tried something very different with the space. We're glad we did though. It looks damned smart even if we do say so ourselves.

The current show runs until the end of this month and the arrangements for the next show at the start of May are being finalised. Stay tuned for developments.

Gallery Seven Opens April 3rd

It gives us considerable pleasure to announce the opening of our spiffy new illustration gallery in Seven Dials, Covent Garden, London.

Because we think a job worth doing is worth doing right, we are starting with the show I Married a Toyboy Convict by Louise Zergaeng Pomeroy. Both artist and work are pretty special; Louise graduated with First Class Honours from Kingston University's Illustration course, the work recently won the prestigious D&Ad Best New Blood Award.

Below is a bit of a taster of what to expect. The work draws inspiration from the unnerving "real life" stories published in women's magazines like Chat and Take A Break. You know, the ones that leave you unsure if the whole thing isn't some sort of joke, even if the subject matter is nothing to laugh about.

If you are reading this, then consider yourself invited. Kick-off is at seven and the beer will be free while it lasts. Please contact david.k@supersuperficial.com to let him know if you plan to come down.
